We Are Royalty
May 7-28th 2022.
Opening Reception May 7, 2022.
My first solo art exhibition We Are Royalty is currently displayed at the AS220 Project Space Gallery in Providence, RI. This is exhibition is mixed media with works ranging from collages, drawing, ink illustartion, and charcoal.
The images and techniques presented in my work draw inspiration from Afrofuturism, South African folklore, and traditional Japanese illustration art. Most of the elements within each work are sampled from various cultures, tribes, and ethnic groups across the black diaspora. The diversity of media in the exhibit represents the large spectrum of black identity. We are royalty expresses blackness, specifically black womanhood and femininity, through themes of celebration, liberation, and identity.
